Wuhan University of Technology: Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, is a national key university directly under the direct control of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Its history can be traced back to the Hubei Technology School (the predecessor of Wuhan University of Technology) founded in 1898, the Wuhan Institute of Technology (the predecessor of Wuhan Automobile Industry University) founded in 1958, and the National Wuchang Maritime Vocational School (Wuhan Jiaotong University of Science and Technology) established in 1946. The three universities merged to form Wuhan University of Technology on May 27, 2000. Wuhan University of Technology is one of the first national key universities directly under the Ministry of Education to be included in China's national "Project 211" key construction, is one of the first batch of universities to be included in the national "Double first-class Plan" construction, and is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transport and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense. Over the past 70 years, the university has trained nearly 500,000 senior professionals. It is the largest university in China directly under the Ministry of Education to train talents for the three major industries of building materials, transportation and automobile, and has become an important base for high-level talent training and scientific and technological innovation in China's "three major industries".
